Here we are at the Labour Day weekend again. How did that happen? The summer went by much too quickly. Aside from a longer than normal battle against the mosquito air force, it was indeed a warm, dry, pleasant summer. The lake was as warm as I can remember it. Lots of shareholders enjoyed their places. The smoke from the various wildfires, both near and far, filled our valley for a few weeks and reduced the visibility and the air quality. It seems to be coming an annual ‘thing’. Gulp
Luckily, we were spared the risk of any fires immediately around us, but our friends around Anderson Lake are still battling some significant fires and, a few communities similar to ours, were on evacuation alert for a considerable period of time.
TV Series Shoot
A Netflix series called ‘The 100’ will be shooting at Strawberry Point on Sept 14 from about dusk to 2 AM. We have negotiated a contract with the movie company to use our fire hall, gate 1 common lot, and some parking places, none of which will inhibit the to and fro of LLE shareholders. It would be appreciated if people did not operate boats around the movie set that evening for obvious reasons.
Those of you who use the gate 1 common lot are requested to shift to the gate 4 common lot for your waterfront activities Thursday Sept 13 noon to Saturday Sept 15 noon. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The fee for the rental of LLE space will be $5000, which will be a welcome contribution to our budget.
School Season Rental
We have had an inquiry from a young woman/ teacher inquiring as to a possible cottage rental for the school year. Contact Jill – email@example.com
We have been plagued with a number of leaks on private lots that result in water shortages at our tanks. Our Maintenance Manager – Paul has to find the leaks and shut the water off to save our pumps from overwork. Please ensure that you either turn your water off at curbside when you leave or, you double-checked all valves etc. in and around your place.
A reminder that we will again be shutting off all water at curbsides about Nov. 15 to help eliminate freeze ups. Of course we will not close off those who are living here through the winter.
Community Safety Committee
The LLE community safety committee is earnestly working to update our safety protocols. They will have a report to present to our next AGM.
Lillooet Lake Facebook Page
The Lillooet Lake Facebook Page is functioning well. It is a great way to keep up on news etc. Just find the page and ask to join, as it is a private group for shareholders only.
Bears / Garbage
Yep, for some reason we need to continue to remind everyone to keep garbage secure and move it off site as soon as possible. The current bears have broken into several cars to get to food / garbage and so they have acquired a new but not admirable skill.
LLE Web Site
In an effort to improve communications we have developed a page on the web site that allows you to find one or more other shareholders and send them a direct and confidential email. Hope that helps.
We are looking for a few people with knowledge of trees and tree management to assist us in developing a tree policy for our estate. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you can assist.
Just a reminder that every lot has an assigned common lot to use as their lake access. (See pg. 26 of the Articles of Incorporation – on web site)
