While we live under the threat of a slide we believe that it is important to keep you advised of and significant weather systems that are approaching our community. The SLRD passed on the following notice to us:
Issued at 2015-10-09 4:24AM PDT by Environment Canada:
Rainfall warning issued for:
Howe Sound, B.C. (082500)
Rain, at times heavy, is expected. A front will bring rain to the Howe Sound today. As the front passes this afternoon, a strong southwesterly flow will continue to direct moisture up the Sound producing rain at time heavy. A second low pressure system will move over the region early Saturday bringing more heavy rain. There still remains some uncertainty with Saturday’s system, but total rainfall amounts through Saturday afternoon could approach 80 mm.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
